LAHAD DATU: RM40,000 of the cost of each Rumah Bina Negara (RBN) house in Sabah and Sarawak is subsidised by the government.
Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the RBN houses built under Risda cost RM45,000 each but the prime minister had agreed for the price to be standardised nationwide.
In this regard, he said, the government had to fork out a higher subsidy, RM40,000 for Sabah and Sarawak, compared to RM20,000 in the peninsula.
"The government wants the house price to be standardised to ensure that the people nationwide will benefit from it," he told a media conference after opening the Silam Umno Delegates Conference here today.
According to Ismail Sabri, each RBN house took about one year and six months to complete.
He said RBN gave rural youths, particularly those who were married, the benefit of having their very own home. — Bernama
