Fire at old non-profit Chinese medicine centre

KUALA LUMPUR: An old non-profit traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) centre here was partially razed in a blaze today after a fire broke out at an adjacent shoplot on Jalan Hang Jebat today.
The four-storey Chinese Medical Aid Department set-up more than 60 years ago suffered extensive damage to its first and second floor when a fire broke out at a fruit store at about 6.15am.
A fire and rescue department spokesman said there were not casualties by the fruit store was burnt down.
He said 40 firemen from five fire stations arrived the scene in just minutes of receiving a distress call and managed to control the blaze within 50 minutes.
It is learnt that a restaurant that shared the fruit store shoplot was also slightly damaged by the fire.
