Sarawakian converts, marries sweetheart with stage 4 cancer

PETALING JAYA: Andrea Adrianna Law Abdullah, 31, showed what true love is about when she married her varsity sweetheart Alfian Rizal, 34, who is suffering from stage four cancer.
The couple held their akad nikah in front of the Malacca Islamic Council Marriages, Divorces and Rujuk chief registrar Mohd Shokri Mustaffa on Saturday.
Alfian was diagnosed with intestinal and liver cancer in March.
"We have been close since our varsity days at the Multimedia University in Maacca, 12 years ago" Berita Harian qouted Andrea as saying.
"We have been true friends. He never forced me to accept Islam. I am sure he is the best match for me," she added.
Andrea embraced Islam last year. She said Alfian started to feel unwell in 2015.
"He often complained of fatigue, and was later admitted to a private hospital for 10 days due to blood loss. However, at that time, the doctor had yet to determine the cause," Andrea was quoted by The New Straits Times as saying.
"Last year, Alfian was admitted to hospital again, doctors could still not find the cause.
"Early this year, he started developing jaundice symptoms and was referred to the Selayang Hospital. Only then were we told he has stage four cancer," she said.
Alfian said he found strength in Andrea's love and support. "She has always been by my side, even during difficult times. I am touched that she is willing to accept me even in my condition now," he said.
The couple will soon leave for Guangzhou, China, where Alfian will undergo chemotherapy.
