Thousands set to flock to Penang Street Food Festival

GEORGE TOWN: Thousands of local and foreign food lovers are expected to flock to the Penang Street Food Festival featuring more than 100 stalls at Lebuh Pantai this Friday and Saturday.
Held in tandem with the National Day celebration, a wide variety of local cuisines await food lovers for the festival organised by TLM Event Company and endorsed by Penang Global Tourism, the state's tourism bureau.
State Tourism Development Committee chairman Danny Law said the two-day festival which starts from 5pm to 11pm is expected to attract an influx of tourists due to the long weekend.
He said part of roads towards the place will be closed starting 1pm on Aug 31 until 6pm on Sept 3.
Roads scheduled to be closed are Lebuh Pantai, Lebuh Bishop, Lebuh Gereja and Gat Lebuh Gereja.
" You will get Penang's best food here, don't miss out," Law said during the press conference.
Food lovers will be amazed with the selection of Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisine from the island and mainland.
Daging Harimau Manangis, one of the most special and popular dishes will be available on the second day of the event.
There will also be a fun fair, retro songs performed live, and fireworks for the opening ceremony happening during the festival.
