Commuter falls through hole in floor before escalator (Video)

A COMMUTER fell into a hole at Cuizhu metro station in Shenzhen City after stepping on a broken escalator floor panel.
Security footage shows the floor "swallowing" the woman who stepped on the broken metal panel that had not been secured in place.
Her companion tried to grab her but could only hold onto her arms while passers-by rushed over to help.
A Shenzhen Metro staff said the woman was not seriously injured when she was helped out several minutes later.
She was taken to a local hospital where doctors tended to the abrasions to her arms and legs. She was discharged after treament.
Shenzhen Metro issued a statement that it had repaired the faulty floor panel. It apologised to the victim and thanked the others who went to her aid.
