Fleeing car thief kills motorist in crash

KAJANG: A car thief who stole a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at a house on Sunday, caused the death of another motorist following an accident at the Kajang SILK highway.
Witnesses told police that the thief dumped the stolen car and was spotted fleeing on foot from the scene.
The victim, a 39-year-old woman who was the driver of a white Proton Saga was killed on the spot.
Kajang district police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff said earlier police had received a distress call from a 17-year-old girl who alerted police that two men had broken into her house in Taman Cheras Perdana and stolen her father's white Toyota Estima at about 5am.
He said at about two hours later an accident occured at the Km9.9 of the SILK expressway involving the Estima.
Ahmad Dzaffir said initial investigations by traffic police revealed that the accident was caused by the suspected car thief who was speeding in the Estima and lost control of the vehicle before crashing it into the Saga.
"Medical personnel from the Kajang Hospital pronounced the victim dead at the scene. A post mortem revealed she died of severe head injuries. We are in the midst of tracking down the suspect." he said.
