PUTRAJAYA: The National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP) needs to steer the innovation agenda in the national education service in line with the importance given in the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the NUTP members should not be easily satisfied and keep their silence in facing the ever-challenging and competitive world of education.
"In other words, individual or organisation or country which does not put innovation as the main agenda, will be left out," he said when opening the 21st NUTP Triennial Conference here today.
Also present were NUTP president Kamarozaman Abd Razak.
Mahdzir said under the 11MP, the NUTP should find a new approach to address the weaknesses in the innovation ecosystem, while increasing research and development (R&D), as well as commercialisation and innovation.
He said innovation could be made in the form of products, services, processes or technology.
"Innovation should have added value, and capable of improving the quality of service rendered," he added. — Bernama
