Stealing SEA Games t-shirts: Retiree jailed a day, fined RM1,500

KUALA LUMPUR: A retiree was jailed a day and fined RM1,500 by the Magistrate's Court here today for stealing 12 SEA Games T-Shirts worth RM800 on Monday.
The accused Hon Kim Nien, 57, pleaded guilty to committing the offence before Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som.
Hon had stolen the FBT Kuala Lumpur SEA Games/9th Asean Para Games T-shirts belonging to a company owned by Muhammad Abid Haiman Mohd Azri, 21, which were being sold at the FBT tent at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil here at 4.30pm on Aug 28.
The accused was liable to be jailed up to 10 years and fined. He paid the fine.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented. — Bernama
