MAKKAH: The Pilgrims Fund Board (Tabung Haji-TH) has identified several sites that are suitable for the construction of the Tabung Haji complex in Makkah.
Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Rahman said he and the top management of Tabung Haji visited several prospective locations for the proposed complex that would house Malaysian pilgrims as well as the TH headquarters on the Holy Land.
"The signing of the agreement for the proposed project would be carried out soon," he told reporters after a gathering with Malaysian pilgrims and the launch of the National Day celebration at Land Premium Hotel here on Monday.
Also present were TH chief executive officer Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah, 1438 Hijrah Malaysian Pilgrims Contingent leader Datuk Syed Saleh Syed Abdul Rahman and several TH board members.
Abdul Azeez said the several factors would be looked into in choosing the site for the proposed TH Complex, including its distance with the Grand Mosque.
The proposal for the construction of the Tabung Haji complex in Makkah and Madinah was voiced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to Saudi Arabia's King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud during the latter's official visit to Malaysia in February. — Bernama
