JOHOR BARU: SWM Environment Sdn Bhd is implementing alternative measures by having flexible schedules in 15 areas under the local government authorities (PBT) in Johor to avoid the problem of overflowing waste due to the long weekend with the country celebrating National day tomorrow, followed by the Aidiladha celebration.
The company's manager in Johor, Mohd Zan Arris, in a statement here today, said the decision was made after considering the needs of residents in the affected areas and also to allow the Muslim staff of SWM Environment to celebrate Aidiladha.
He said the flexible schedule would only be implemented for solid waste management, while the operation for public cleaning services would be carried out as usual in all PBT areas.
According to him, SWM Environment's flexible service schedule in southern Johor, involving seven PBT, would be carried out by changing the service schedule by one day earlier from last Aug 26 to Sept 2.
The affected PBT areas are the Johor Baru City Council, Johor Baru Tengah Municipal Council, Pasir Gudang Municipal Council, Kulai Municipal Council, and the Pontian, Kota Tinggi, and Mersing district councils.
The flexible service schedule for the remaining eight PBT in northern Johor would only be applicable, especially during the Aidiladha celebration by shifting the service schedule to Sept 2.
The eight affected PBT areas are the Muar, Batu Pahat and Kluang municipalities, and the Tangkak, Labis, Segamat, Yong Peng and Simpang Renggam district councils.
