KENINGAU: The 17th Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in the country was opened in Keningau, Sabah, as a new landmark for the district.
Built at a cost of RM29,152,779.79, it became fully operational on Nov 17 last year, housing 10 government departments and agencies including the Keningau District Council; the National Registration Department; Immigration Department; Road Transport Department; Royal Malaysia Police; 1Malaysia Clinic; and the National Higher Education Fund Corporation.
Operating daily except public holidays from 8am until 9pm, the Keningau UTC also houses health centres and business premises.
Sabah Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Datuk Sairin Karno told Bernama the UTC in Keningau was proof of the concern of the federal government and the state government for the people in the interiors of Sabah.
"The Keningau UTC not only benefits the local people but also people in neighbouring districts like Tambunan, Nabawan, Tenom and Sipitang," Sairin who is also Liawan state assemblyman said.
Besides Keningau, there are two other UTCs in Sabah, namely in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau. — Bernama
