KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Government will set up 10 kiosks for free at the Batu Buruk Beach to further boost the economy of entrepreneurs in the state.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the kiosks would be leased for free, especially to youths, for a year.
"We highly encourage the operators to sell tourism products such as t-shirts, souvenirs ... or anything related to the Visit Beautiful Terengganu 2017.
"It also serves as the state government's encouragement to create entrepreneurs among the young people, and whatever plan that we are going to implement will be expanded to other areas (in the state)," he told reporters after officiating the Terengganu chapter of the Emergency Action Team of Malaysia (PTCM) horse stable here today.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Razif said the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) was now in the midst of identifying designated areas for swimming at the Batu Buruk Beach.
"After identifying the locations, we will embark on net installation … members of the public can see the warning signs that will be marked with flags in the areas and they will be watched by lifeguards.
"These are among the initiatives by the state government to ensure more visitors to the beach. The more people come, the more profits will be enjoyed by the operators," he said. — Bernama
