PETALING JAYA: A suspect has been arrested and remanded for seven days in connection with the mysterious murder of a policeman at the Jalan TP 7/2, Subang Jaya police station.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor said that the man, aged 30, was apprehended at 1am this morning.
“The lead suspect from Sibu, Sarawak was called in for questioning on Thursday night,” he said in a statement.
Mazlan also said that the suspect will be remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations into the case.
Police officer Valentino Mesa, 29, was found dead in a pool of his own blood by his fellow officers while they were making their rounds at the Pinggiran Subang Jaya police station at 3.25am on Thursday morning.
The station is located in a mainly industrial area, crowded with car workshops and shoplots.
Mazlan said that the investigation so far could not reveal the motive of the victim’s killing as he did not have any personal issues like debts.
He also did not rule out the fact that the victim may have personally known the suspect as the bullet wounds show that he was shot at close range.
