Storm rips off rooftop of 16 houses in Beluran

BELURAN: Heavy rain and thunderstorm ripped the rooftop off 16 houses in Kampung Air here yesterday.
Beluran district police chief Supt Sivanathan Velautham said 150 villagers were affected in the 6.05pm incident.
However, no residents were injured or evacuated, he told Bernama here today.
A villager, Pepey Afizah Wahadi said the storm occurred while the residents were busy preparing for the Aidiladha celebration.
"It was the first of such incident in this area," said the 20-year-old woman.
Earlier, private secretary to the Beluran Member of Parliament, Samad Jambri and Labuk state constituency's community development officer, Abdul Rahman Kangkawang visited the affected house owners. — Bernama
