Loh Jack, Nurul Hidayah named Sarawak Sportsman, Sportswoman 2015/2016

KUCHING: Sarawak has named 29th SEA Games (KL2017) gold medallists Loh Jack Chang (wushu) and Nurul Hidayah Abdul Karim (taekwondo) as State Sportsman and Sportswoman for 2015/2016.
Loh was chosen over two other nominees, national swimmer Welson Sim Wee Sheng and taekwondo exponent Augustine Rudy Grocer while Nurul Hidayah edged national diving queen Pandelela Rinong Pamg and national swimming athletes Erika Kong Chia Chia and Angela Chieng Chui Fei.
The duo received RM5,000, a trophy and certificate each.
Meanwhile the 'Olahragawan OKU 2015/2016' award went to swimming athlete Jamery Anak Siga who edged powerlifting athlete Jong Yee Khie, while Nur Atirah Voon Abdullah won the 'Olahragawati OKU 2015/2016' award after edging powerlifting athlete Sona Anak Agam.
They received RM3,000, a trophy and certificate each.

The 'Olahragawan Harapan 2015/2016' was won by weightlifting athlete Jerry Anak Gawan who received RM3,000, a trophy and certificate while national junior table tennis player Alice Chang Li Sian was chosen as 'Olahragawati Harapan 2015/2016'.
They brought home RM3,000, a trophy and certificate each.
The men's tenpin bowling team won the Best Men's Team award while the women's tenpin bowling team won the Best Women's Team award.
Sarawak Tenpin Bowling Association was chosen over Sarawak OKU Sports and Recreation Association to receive the Best Sports Association 2015/2016 award.
Other winners were Jackson Ting Nik Soon (Best Coach – Tenpin Bowling), Matthew Chin Hiong Choi (Best Paralympic Sports Coach 2015/2016 – Athletics) and Sunny Sii Poh Heng (Sports Leadership 2015/2016 – Tenpin Bowling).
A Special Award was also presented to Sarawak State Secretary Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani as an appreciation for his outstanding leadership and contribution in organising the Malaysian Games (Sukma) 2015.
The awards and prizes were presented by Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak Arts, Culture and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Sarawak Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Snowdan Lawan. — Bernama
