37 people in Kampung Sungai Tepus evacuated due to flash floods

ALOR STAR: Thirty-seven people from six families in Kampung Sungai Tepus at Bandar Baharu near Kulim were evacuated to a relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Kechil Ulu due to flash floods last night.
Kulim Civil Defence Force officer Lieutenant Mohd Fadhil Fahmi Zaini said the flash floods occurred following heavy rain yesterday evening.
“Water began to rise about 7pm and following monitoring, there was a risk of the people affected by the rising water and they were then ordered to evacuate.
“As at 11am today, they are still at the evacuation centre,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today. — Bernama
