Install CCTVs in police stations to strengthen surveillance: Lee Lam Thye

IPOH: The government should install CCTVs in small police stations to monitor activities at these premises said Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.
The Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) Senior Vice-Chairman said this was needed as it helps to track people going in and out of these stations following the shooting of Lance Corporal Valentino Mesa, 29, at a community police station in Subang Jaya on Aug 31.
The policeman was on duty alone at the time of the incident.
Police had to rely on CCTV recordings in the area as part of their investigation since no cameras had been installed in the station.
Lee also asked the force to increase its personnel at small stations.
"Two or three personnel on duty will be an appropriate number so that assistance could be provided in case of emergencies," he added.
