KUALA LUMPUR: In remembrance of the great legendary Hungarian folk musicologist, Zoltan Kodaly, a special musical tribute concert to acknowledge his works as a musical genius will be held here tomorrow.
Kodaly was a famed musicologist during the 19th century and most renowned for developing the ‘Kodaly Method’, an approach to music education later inscribed as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Hungarian ambassador to Malaysia, Attila Kali said the tribute concert would be performed by two Malaysian students, who are studying in Hungary and who are also former students of Poco Studio, a local music school based in Sentul.
"Kodaly is an internationally acknowledged, outstanding Hungarian who had achieved critical acclaim for his contribution to folk music.
"His work not only contributed to the development of the domestic musical and educational life, but also to mutual enrichment of cultures and promotion of international understanding,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
The concert will be held on Sept 5 at 7.30 pm in a private residence at 12, Jalan Bukit Desa 8, Taman Bukit Desa. Admission is free.
