LABUAN: The number of dengue fever cases reported in the island has risen to 53 since January, as enforcement measures are intensified to check on its outbreak.
At least, five cases were reported early this month, involving the highly populated water village of Kampung Patau-Patau (three cases) and Kampung Layang-Layangan (two cases).
Labuan Health Department director Dr Ismuni Bohari said two other cases were currently being monitored.
"We are monitoring the situation closely," he told a press conference after the One Health Field Simulation Training on Rabies for Northern Borneo here today.
Last year, Labuan recorded 13 dengue cases as compared to only three in 2015.
