GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng did not want to comment on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) decision to take legal action against him.
Lim said that he did not want to respond at the current time on the matter.
In a statement on Tuesday, MACC stated legal action will be initiated against Lim over his refusal to apologise over illegal remarks made towards Phee Boon Poh's detention.
The commission stated it has uanimously reached consensus and the matter will be referred to Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Apandi Ali for further action.
The MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad had urged Lim to apologise within 48 hours.
However, Lim did not do so while MACC stated further action will be taken after meeting up on Sept 4.
This comes after Phee was detained on Aug 10 over the illegal carbon filter factory issue in Sungai Lembu, Bukit Mertajam.
The High Court had also set aside the lower court's remand order and released Phee on Aug 14.
