PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department crippled a prostitution syndicate which operates at a massage centre in Taman Maluri, Cheras, with the arrest of 24 foreign nationals in an operation code-named "Op Segar" yesterday.
Immigration deputy director-general Datuk Shahril Ismail said the operation was conducted following a tip-off that sex service was offered at the traditional massage centre.
Those detained comprised 12 Vietnamese women, 10 Indonesian women, a Myanmar man, who is believed an employee at the centre and an Indonesian man, who was a patron there, he said, adding a local man, who was a supervisor at the centre, was also detained.
The foreigners were detained for, among others, without personal documents and over-staying, he said in a statement today.
He said they were sent to the Putrajaya Immigration Detention Depot for investigation. — Bernama
