TELUK INTAN: No steel bridge has been provided for the use of the public following the indefinite closure of the Sultan Yusuf Bridge across the Perak River connecting Teluk Intan and Manjung, according to a Perak state executive councillor.
Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin, chairman of the Public Amenities, Infrastructure, Energy and Water Committee, said the steel bridge there was for the private use of the contractor and workers engaged in the construction of the West Coast Expressway.
Speaking to reporters here, he advised the public to be wary of viral information on social media, such as the one on the steel bridge, and said they should verify the information, especially with the Public Works Department.
The department had announced early this month that the Sultan Yusuf Bridge, also known as Jambatan Batu 5, would be closed indefinitely to facilitate work to strengthen a structure in a bridge span. — Bernama
