Agong attends solat hajat, Yasin recital
KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V tonight attended the solat hajat, Yasin recital and prayers held in conjunction with his official birthday celebration at the Federal Territory Mosque here, tonight.
His Majesty, who arrived at 7.30pm clad in a green-coloured Baju Melayu, was greeted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
The ceremony began with Maghrib prayers, followed by solat hajat and Yasin recital led by the National Mosque's Grand Imam Tan Sri Syeikh Ismail Muhammad.
The government has previously announced that the Agong's official birthday celebration will be postponed from July 29 to Sept 9.
Sultan Muhammad V was sworn in as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on April 24, replacing Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, who ended his tenure as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Dec 12 last year. — Bernama
