KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has received more than 2,000 orders for its 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and 9th Asean Para Games commemorative coins, almost quadrupling that of the previous sale.
The central bank had also introduced a new computer-aided balloting process for the oversubscribed coins, witnessed by its internal auditors to ensure the integrity of the process, it said in a statement today.
Sales of the commemorative coins were conducted via its online platform online, from Aug 29.
"The results are available online at www.bnm.gov.my, and successful buyers may pay for and collect the commemorative coins from Sept 8-12 at BNM's Museum and Art Gallery and its offices nationwide (daily, including on weekends and public holidays).
"They may also collect it at the bank's offices in Penang, Johor Baru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, and Kuala Terengganu (normal working days)," it said.
BNM said buyers have to present valid identification in person for collection (MyKad for Malaysians/ passport for non-Malaysians).
Coins, not collected by 4pm on Sept 12, would be offered to other buyers in the ballot reserve list.
On another note, the central bank said retail sales of the Nordic Gold coins would be available at its Museum and Art Gallery from Sept 13. — Bernama
