Sultan of Johor leads 'Kembara Mahkota Johor 2017'

JOHOR BARU: The Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ) 2017 expedition kicked off today with the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar leading his convoy to tour the state's 10 districts until Tuesday.
Johor Council of Royal Court president Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli flagged off the KMJ's 20th edition at the Johor Bahru City Council Square here at 9am.
For the first time ever, Sultan Ibrahim drove the British-made Morgan Three Wheelers in the royal tour which will cover 808km.
Joining him are Permaisuri of Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah and Johor royal family members.
The convoy is scheduled to cover Kota Tinggi and Mersing on the first day involving a 195km journey.
The tour, a brainchild of Sultan Ibrahim since 2001, will then proceed to Kluang covering 157km on the second day before heading to Batu Pahat, Segamat, Tangkak and Muar on the following day with a total distance of 209km.
The last leg of 247km will start from Muar to Hutan Bandar, Bandar Putra, Kulai.
Also participating in the KMJ 2017 are Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, state executive councillors and senior state government officers.
A number of activities have been lined up for Sultan Ibrahim to take part and mingle with the people throughout the tour such as cooking demonstrations, people's sports, visits to hawker stalls and donation presentations to the deserving groups.
The Sultan will also make a dive and launch the Iskandar Puteri City Council’s logo under the sea off Pulau Mensirip, Mersing.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Khaled said the programme is one of the best initiatives to forge closer ties between the Johor royal family and the people. — Bernama
