Mother and son killed, three injured in two-vehicle collision

JOHOR BARU: A man and his mother were killed, while his wife and daughter were seriously injured when the Proton Wira they were travelling in collided with a lorry at KM 165 off Jalan Johor Baru-Seremban near Labis, Segamat, today.
The victims, identified as Hamzah Selamat, 40, and his mother, Mokminah Kasdini, 80, died at the scene at 12.03pm.
Segamat police chief Supt Raub Selamat said in the incident, Hamzah's wife, 39, and four-year-old daughter, as well as the lorry driver, were also injured.
"Initial investigation revealed that the lorry that was heading to Segamat was believed to have entered the opposite lane and collided with the Proton Wira. The road condition was also wet as it had just rained," he said when contacted here today.
The bodies of Hamzah and Mokminah were sent to the Segamat Hospital, while Hamzah's wife and daughter, as well as the lorry driver, were treated at the same hospital. — Bernama
