Six shop houses gutted in Kampung Jawa

MALACCA: Six shop houses and a store were destroyed in a fire in Kampung Jawa, Panchor, Muar, last night.
The fire, which broke out about 9.35pm, also caused damage to several houses nearby.
Bukit Gambir Fire and Rescue Station Chief Mohd Khairul Sufian Dahari said the station received a distress call at 9.40 pm and a team of firemen in two engines, including from the Muar fire and rescue station, rushed to the scene, arriving there nine minutes later.
When the firemen arrived, the fire was at its peak, but they managed to control the fire from spreading, he said when contacted by Bernama today.
However, there were no casualties involved.
He said the department was investigating the cause of the fire and losses incurred in the incident. — Bernama
