PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department exceeded the target set in its Key Performance Index (KPI) with over 1,200 operations conducted this year.
Stating this, Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said with a total of 1,257 operations conducted since January, the department has exceeded its KPI of 850 operations per month by 147%.
"The success of these operations by the department is because of the spirit of all the enforcement personnel, practising our department's new theme "Sovereignty and Security Without Compromise", which became the pulse propulsion for them in enforcing the law," he told a press conference here today.
Mustafar said the KPI was set under the department's Excellence Continuation Transformation Plan.
He said the department's Ops Mega operation launched on June 30 this year had also recorded an extraordinary achievement to date, with 3,272 premises and 43,426 foreigners being inspected, leading to the nationwide arrest of 11,053 illegal immigrants and 270 employers.
"From the total, some 99 employers and 3,646 illegal immigrants were charged for various offences under the Immigration Act and rules," Mustafar said.
