Kedah Sultan: Foreign embassies, high commissions convey condolences

KUALA LUMPUR: Heartfelt condolences are pouring in from foreign embassies and high commissions in Kuala Lumpur, in response to the passing of the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
The embassies and high commissions conveyed their condolences to the Kedah royal family, state government, and people of Kedah through Facebook and Twitter.
Sultan Abdul Halim passed away at 2.30pm yesterday at Istana Anak Bukit in Alor Setar, his Royal Highness was 89. His remains will be buried at the Langgar Royal Mausoleum at 4pm today.
The United States embassy in its Facebook posting wrote: "The US Embassy sends our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to KDYMM Sultanah of Kedah, Tuanku Hajah Haminah binti Haji Hamidun and the Royal Family of Kedah, the state government of Kedah, and the people of Kedah Darul Aman on the passing of KDYMM Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah."
The British High Commission in its Facebook posting also extended its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the state of Kedah and its people on the passing of Sultan Abdul Halim.
On twitter, @UKinMalaysia posted: "Our deepest sympathies & heartfelt condolences to Kedah on the passing of HRH Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah. Al-Fatihah."
The embassy of Finland in its Facebook posting wrote: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of HRH Tuanku Abdul Halim. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kedah royal family and its people."
The embassy of Hungary offered its heartfelt condolences to the Kedah Royal Family and the people of Kedah, as well as to the whole Malaysian nation on the passing away of Sultan Abdul Halim, the fifth and 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia. — Bernama
