Sabah Umno receives 15,000 Jalur Gemilang from civics bureau

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah National Civics Bureau yesterday handed over 15,000 Jalur Gemilang to Sabah Umno for its 25 divisions in conjunction with National Month and Malaysia Day.
Its director Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the contribution was part of the bureau's endeavour to mark National Month, and Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16 which would be hosted by Sabah.
"We listen to the aspiration of the people in Sabah who want Malaysia Day to be accorded more significance.
"Alhamdulillah, we are thankful to Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak because when he became Prime Minister, in his first year, he not only declared Sept 16 as Malaysia Day but also as a national public holiday, which gives the occasion more value, meaning and inclusivity," he told reporters after handing over the flags.
Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun who is also joint organising chairman for the Malaysia Day 2017 celebration received the flags from Armizan who is also Pemuda Umno Malaysia exco and Papar Umno Youth chief, during a Sabah Umno Liaison meeting last night. — Bernama
