PETALING JAYA: A 28-year-old man was killed in an accident early this morning at Km22.7 of the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) that resulted in a massive traffic snarl.
Serdang district police chief ACP Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said in the 6.40am incident, Lim Ji Qin, a passenger, was killed in a car that collided with a lorry.
The driver of the car, 27, was severely injured and sent to Serdang Hospital for treatment while the lorry driver, 32, escaped unhurt.
"Both driver and passenger of the car were from Johor. They were travelling on the left lane of the highway heading to Puchong when the car crashed into the back of the lorry.
"The collision caused the lorry and the car to spin and crash into the left and right shoulders of the highway respectively," he said in a statement today.
Police are in the midst of investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
The crash caused a traffic crawl from Kota Kemuning and the Bukit Jalil Highway from Technology Park Malaysia.
Earlier, the Fire and Rescue Department said that their department from Puchong was dispatched to the scene and arrived at 6.50am.
Lim was pronounced dead at the scene.
