Landscape industry players urged to train young generation for future environmental protection

KUALA LUMPUR: Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar urged all landscape industry players to unite and develop the younger generation to achieve their fullest potential in the landscape industry.
He said in order to make Malaysia a Beautiful Garden Nation, landscape professionals must see good examples in developed countries where they develop human resource and promote innovative development through the proliferation of new ideas among the young generation.
"Those involved in the landscape industry must have passion to create development that will ensure the establishment of living environments that balances the rapid growth of economic sector development like housing, agriculture and public facilities.
"Therefore, they are needed to help develop a viable environment to support and contribute to the nation's economic growth together with other professions and private practitioners," he said in his opening speech of the Landscape Asia Expo and Conference (LAX) 2017 here, today.
His speech was delivered by National Landscape Department director-general Esa Ahmad.
Noh also urged industrial players to optimise these natural resources to its maximum capacity for the well-being of citizen.
"With the existence of natural landscapes, we may take this god-gift advantages to diversify our nation's income by investing in the landscape industry to boost our agriculture and tourism industry," he said.
LAX 2017, featuring more than 1,000 products, services and latest trend technologies, attracting 15,000 trade local and international visitors is held from Sept 14 to 16 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
It's organising chairman Moey Sai Yee said LAX 2017 special highlights are industry conferences and workshops, Landscape Design Competition and Live Green Box Project with the purpose to reduce carbon footprint and encourage the planting of trees, protect, and preserve the natural environment.
"Attendees expected over the next three days include close to 1,000 decision makers and leaders from related industries, 1,000 international delegates from various countries such as the Netherlands, Singapore, India, Philippines, China, Korea, and many more," he said. — Bernama
