Student penned heart-wrenching letter to parents before tragic death

KUALA LUMPUR: A heart-wrenching letter of a student who died in a fire at the tahfiz school was a final note he gave out to his parents.
"Mom and Dad, forgive me if I had done anything wrong. Amiel loves you both very much. Thank you for taking care of me all this while.
"I do not know how to repay you both. And the only way for me to do so is by studying in the tahfiz to help both you enter syurga (heaven)," Amiel Asyraf Abdul Rashid, 11, wrote on his notebook.
Asyraf's mother Norhayati Khalid, 42, said the victim had given the letter to his parents who visited him at the school on Wednesday.
At least 22 students and two teachers were killed in the fire happened at about 5.30am on Thursday.
Four others have been warded at Kuala Lumpur Hospital in critical condition.
