KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), an agency under the Human Resources Ministry (HRM) today signed the Corruption-Free Pledge in line with the government's aspiration to combat corruption in government sectors.
Its chief executive Datuk CM Vignaesvaran Jeyandran led the declaration of the pledge before the signing which was witnessed by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy director Deputy Commissioner Datuk Idris Zaharudin.
CM Vignaesvaran in his opening speech said the event symbolised HRDF's commitment towards its four core values, namely integrity, customer focus, continuous improvement and accountability.
"Our job is to manage training funds for our relevant employers. It is our responsibility to inform everyone that we are clean from corruption so people are not worried," he said.
He added that HRDF had adopted several strategies and approaches to strengthen good governance, including sharing business intelligence on irregularities and corruption with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

CM Vignaesvaran said to embrace and commit to the spirit of integrity, the HRDF Code of Business Ethics (COBE) was introduced in 2014 as a guidance to both HRDF employees and providers on sustainable business relationships.
"Signing the pledge empowers employees to fight corruption by instilling integrity in them, ensuring that all employees who sign the pledge would be more responsible in their duties and avoid corrupt practices," he said.
Meanwhile, Idris in his speech said the pledge clearly outlined the direction and the will of the top management of an organisation and sets a clear leadership tone that there was no compromise on the issue of corruption.
"As an institution responsible for and mandated to upgrade the Malaysian workforce, HRDF is giving its stakeholders an assurance that the funds they collect from HRDF-registered companies as well as from the government are not misappropriated and are spent in full discretion and prudence towards their mandate," he said. — Bernama
