Remains of first tahfiz fire victim arrive at cemetery

KUALA LUMPUR: The first body of one of the 21 tahfiz students who perished in a fire on Thursday morning has finally arrived at the Raudhatul Sakinah Muslim cemetery to be laid to rest.
The body of Muhammad Aidil Aqmal Mohd Zamzuri, 10, which arrived in a hearse at 6.30pm, were among the remains of 12 tahfiz students expected to be buried at the same cemetery today.
A sombre mood could be felt as soon as the hearse entered the cemetery grounds, which was packed with the presence of more than 500 people.
Pallbearers immediately carried the casket to the grave for burial.
Among those present at the funeral was Federal Territories Mufti Datuk Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.
A fire that broke out in the early hours of Thursday morning at the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school in Keramat had resulted in the death of 23 people.
The rest of the deceased will be buried in their respective hometowns.
