Asean Para Games opening to equal KL2017 SEA Games

    KUALA LUMPUR: The opening of the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Asean Para Games tomorrow is set to showcase a great performance similar to the KL2017 SEA Games.
    Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the one hour 20 minutes opening at the National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur Sports City would start at 8.15 pm.
    "Online tickets are sold, we don't sell tickets, buyers needed only book online. There will be another 4,000 to 5,000 tickets distributed to the public at the stadium tomorrow from 12 noon, so on paper it is full house at the stadium," he said.
    He said this to reporters after visiting the archery venue at the National Sports Council (MSN) Synthethic Field, CP football at MSN's C Field and badminton at Axiata Arena here today.
    Khairy, who is also Malaysian Organising Committee chairman (MASOC), said all preparations to organise the sport was at a top level, including in terms of additional facilities for handicapped spectators.

    The opening tomorrow would also showcase a performance by renowned singer Yuna with a group of handicapped.
    "We also have trained 4,000 volunteers to help the athletes and spectators, especially for the handicapped on the facilities provided, special vehicles and others, other than increasing and modifying the facilities for them," he said.
    The Ninth Asean Para Games would take place tomorrow to Sept 23, offering 368 gold medals from 16 events contested. — Bernama
