Businessman shot seven times by five gunmen

KUALA LIPIS: A businessman who was on his way to Raub was shot seven times by five gunmen along Jalan Besar Kuala Medang here at 10pm yesterday.
The 55-year-old victim was shot by the group of assailants at close range.
District police chief Supt Azry Akmar Ayob said the victim was driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle when he was pursued by the suspects in another vehicle.
"We will record a statement from the victim as soon as he is able to speak to us and also from witnesses. The motive is still under investigation," he said today.
Azry said the state police headquarters forensic unit was roped in to assist in the investigation.
It is learnt that the victim was initially rushed to a health clinic in Sungai Koyan by passers-by and later warded at the Kuala Lipis Hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms Act and Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery when armed or with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.
