Funeral arrangements for 23 tahfiz fire victims done in three hours 15 minutes

KUALA LUMPUR: The funeral arrangements of the 23 victims of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah Residental Religious School were finalised in three hours 15 minutes, with the average of about eight minutes spent on each body.
Director of the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) Abdul Aziz Jusoh said with this, the department created its own history, with the funeral rites for all the victims buried in the Klang Valley area and in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan completed by 10pm.
“Meanwhile, the funeral rites for the victim who was buried in Pengkalan Kubor, Kelantan were finalised by 3am,” he said in a statement here today.
Abdul Aziz said this achievement was the result of close cooperation between all parties including government agencies, non-governmental organisations as well as individuals.
“JAWI, which led the management of the funeral arrangements, thanks all parties involved, whether directily or indirectly,” he said.
The agencies involved were the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM), the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), the Armed Forces Religious Corps (KAGAT), the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, the Royal Malaysian Police, Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Kuala Lumpur Hospital. — Bernama
