Meeting Trump or not, opposition's narrative remain the same: Salleh Keruak

KUALA LUMPUR: Whatever Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak does or does not do, the opposition will still criticise him, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak (pix).
Salleh said everything that Najib does is turned into an issue by the other opposition leaders.
"If Najib does not meet foreign leaders such as the President of the United States, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says it is because Najib is scared of travelling to other countries in case he gets arrested.
"Then, when Najib does travel to the US to meet President Donald Trump, they say the Prime Minister paid lobbyists to arrange for the meeting," he said in his blog post (sskeruak.blogspot.my), today.
He added that nothing that Najib did could satisfy Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan because they criticised for the sake of criticising and not for the good of the country.
"They want to give the impression that nothing Najib does is right and only Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan are right.
"The problem is Mahathir is using his own standards and actions to judge Najib.
"Just because Mahathir paid lobbyists millions for his meeting with President Bush does not mean Najib must have done the same," Salleh said.
Salleh further said: "Mahathir could not have met Bush unless he paid for the meeting so the opposition thinks Najib, too, would not be able to meet Trump unless he also paid for the meeting.
"They cannot accept the fact that Mahathir needed to pay to meet Bush while Najib did not have to do that to meet Trump. That is what hurts Pakatan Harapan the most," he said.
Najib visited Washington DC last week where he held a meeting with Trump at the White House. — Bernama
