Six including four college students nabbed for peddling drugs

KAJANG: Police have nabbed six individuals, of whom four are from a private higher learning institution here who had turned to a life of crime by peddling drugs.
Kajang district police chief ACP Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussoff said following a tip-off, the district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) detained six suspects in a house at Section 3 of Bandar Baru Bangi, on Sept 11.
"The team went to their house at about 11.45pm following a tip-off. The six locals aged between 21 and 26 were suspected to have been active with their unscrupulous activities for the past year," he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Dzaffir said during the search, police siezed three slabs of Ganja weighing 2.3kg and worth RM5,000.
"The four students were from a private university (IPTS) in this district. Preliminary investigation revealed that the drugs were given out by another perpetrator, who is believed to be an active drug trafficker in Kuala Lumpur.
"A 'Runner' will transport the drugs from the suspects from KL to Kajang to cater for drug addicts here," he added.
The suspects have been remanded and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
