Mother of three arrested for drug trafficking

IPOH: A woman who had been released from a drug rehabilitation centre in Batu Gajah recently, was arrested by police last Thursday on suspicion of trafficking.
Perak Narcotics Department chief Assistant Commissioner V. R. Ravi Chandran said the 38-year-old unemployed woman, a mother of three, was picked up at a shop lot in Kampar Trading Centre.
On checking, police found 3,066g of syabu in "tea bags" and a bottle of ethanol weighing three litres worth RM214,770.
He said she also tested positive for methamphetamine abuse and has been remanded until Wednesday as part of investigation.
Ravi Chandran said the woman had a criminal record with four previous drug-related offences.
Police believe the woman is active in drug trafficking in Selangor and they are trying to establish where she got her supply from.
In another case, two brothers aged 17 and 19 were among four people arrested in a house in Pokok Assam, Taiping on Sept 13.
Two of them had previous records for drug offences while three were unemployed.
He said police recovered heroin weighing 218.33g worth RM5,458 and two motorcycles valued at RM5,000.
They have been remanded until tomorrrow (Sept 20) to facilitate investigation.
Ravi Chandran said during the first eight months of this year the value of drugs seized went up to RM10 million from RM4.4 million during the same period last year.
The seizure of properties also increased which was worth RM4.9 million this year compared to RM3.5 million in 2016.
