Agong pays RM385,000 for DDD2 number plate

PETALING JAYA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V has won the highest bid for the new Kelantan DDD 2 registration number.
State Road Transport Department (RTD) director Mahassan Mustapha said the King also won the bid for several other interesting DDD registration numbers.
He said the King won the bid of RM385,000 for the DDD 2 registration number.
He addded that several VVIPs also won other DDD registration numbers.
"The state RTD received overwhelming response from the public and created history with this series of registration number plates with more than 7,000 bids for the DDD number plates.
"In the previous series, the state RTD only recorded between 700 and 800 bids from individuals," Mahassan said.
He added that the most popular number was DDD 1000, which had 144 individuals bidding for it and it was won by an individual who paid RM50,000.
Mahassan said the DDD registration number attracted a huge number of buyers due to the same three letters.
Previously Yayasan Patriot Negara Malaysia (YPN) started a fund-raising drive with the PATRIOT series licence plate.
It sold the country's most expensive number plate PATRIOT 1 for RM1.3 million to a bidder from the south of the country
The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, a collector of exotic, classic and highly collectible automobiles paid RM990,000 for the V1 registration number.
The Sultan of Johor also owns the F1 registration and he paid RM836,660 for it
The owner of the W1N registration number is unknown but he paid a whopping RM 748,000 for it.
