Suspects in robbery at convenience stores in Sungai Siput arrested

IPOH: The police have arrested three men, suspected to be members of "Vijay Gang", which is believed to be responsible for the robbery at several 24-hour convenience stores reported here since the past few months.
Ipoh district police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the suspects, aged 17 and 19, respectively, were arrested during a raid at a house in Sungai Siput on Sept 14.
Following their arrest, police seized a Proton Persona car, and several types of cigarettes, believed to have been stolen from the convenience stores, he told a media conference after the monthly assembly of the Ipoh police at the Pasir Puteh police station here today.
Sum said police also detained four other suspects for investigation into several house breaking cases reported in Ipoh since the past few months.
The suspects, aged between 28 and 48 and with previous records, were detained in Buntong last Sept 9.
Police also seized several items from them , including a television, handphones, grass cutter, lap top, handphone accessories and a Proton Wira Aeroback car, he said. — Bernama
