KUALA TERENGGANU: A man and his wife were charged at the Sessions Court here today with six counts of submitting false claims amounting to RM211,646 for the supply of milk and eggs to the Dietetic and Food Service Department of the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ).
Mohd Fikri Izani, 26, who is the manager of Syarikat KAB Adil Resources, and his wife, Noormazida Mukhtar, 28, the administrative assistant of the Dietetic and Food Service Department of HSNZ, were alleged to have committed the offences at the HSNZ Dietetic and Food Service Department office between February and July this year.
On the first and second counts, the couple were alleged to have submitted false claims totalling RM98,580 for the supply of eggs at Noormazida's workplace on June 11 and July 3.
On the third to sixth counts, they were alleged to have committed the same offences at the same place involving RM113,066, between Feb 12 and May 31.
Based on the charge sheets, they had allegedly committed the offences with the intention to confuse the assistant accountant when they did not actually deliver the supply of milk and eggs as stated in their claims.
The charge under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 provides for a maximum 20-year jail and a fine five times the amount involved in the falsified details or RM10,000, or whichever is higher.
Judge Mohamad Haldar Abd Aziz allowed both the accused bail of RM13,000 each with one surety and set Sept 17 for remention.
Deputy public prosecutor Amer Abu Bakar Abdullah represented the MACC while the two accused were unrepresented. — Bernama
