Increasing awareness on prevention of corruption, power abuse

JOHOR BARU: Public awareness on the prevention of corruption and power abuse is increasing following the rise in the number of informers providing information to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) lately.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad said the commission found that the information received from time to time had been increasing.

"Any Malaysian wishing to prevent corrupt practices should not be afraid to do so. Pass on the (relevant) information to the MACC," he told reporters at the Anti-Corruption Adventure Programme "Konvoi Kejar 2017" at the Ma'had As-Syarie, Kampung Melayu Majidee, here today.
Forty-three superbikes will be involved in the 13-day adventure covering 2,000km through 12 states in Peninsular Malaysia.
Dzulkifli said the community could choose two ways to convey the information to the MACC either by lodging a complaint directly or channelling the information without exposing their identity.
"If all Malaysians take a firm stand in preventing corruption, there will be no giver and no one will receive (any bribe)," he said.
In addition, he hoped the people would not have any cynical view on the efforts by MACC personnel who worked hard daily in discharging their responsibilities in the war against corruption and power abuse.
Although the commission has only 2,100 uniformed staff, it had aggressively carried out investigation and prosecution activities almost every week.
As such, he said constructive criticism from members of society were welcome in efforts by the MACC to improve its services and assist in the fight against corruption in the country, he added. — Bernama
