SHAH ALAM: Realising the urgent need to boost public awareness on sexual crimes committed towards children, the Badan Amal dan Kasih Negeri Selangor (Kasih) will organise a seminar on child sex crimes on Sept 28 at the Intekma Resort & Convention Centre here.
Kasih president, Puan Seri Prof Aishah Salleh said the seminar also aimed to share ways to protect children from the threat of criminals and get the commitment of all parties in the effort to prevent and eradicate sexual crimes against children as well as provide support services.
"Kasih, as a charity body composed of the wives of Barisan Nasional elected representatives and Selangor Umno division chiefs, views seriously this issue, especially with the occurrence of a recent court case involving a father who had committed 623 counts of sexual crimes towards his child.
"We have organised this state-level seminar to exchange information and views to ensure that cases such as these are not repeated and affecting the children when they become adults," she said in a press conference here today.
The one-day seminar that is held for free, with the theme "Stop it!!", will be launched by Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government, Tan Sri Noh Omar.
"At the end of the seminar, we will produce a resolution composed of experiences gained throughout the seminar that will be tabled to the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry for further action," she added. — Bernama
