Selangor fire and rescue department prepares for high tides

    SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department has been placed in a state of alert for the possibility of floods due to the high tide phenomenon.
    Its chief (Operations and Fire Station Management), Alimaddia Bukri said the phenomenon is expected to occur in stages starting from tomorrow till Dec 5.
    "Precautionary measures such as the preparation of rescue boats and utility vehicles, scheduled patrols at expected high tide areas as well as preparation for evacuation aid had also been taken.
    "We have also rescheduled shift duties and will provide full cooperation to related agencies throughout the period of the phenomenon," he said in a statement here today.
    He said the high tide phenomenon is expected to affect 15 locations involving five districts in Selangor, namely, Klang, Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor, and Sabak Bernam.
    The affected locations in Klang are Pengkalan Tok Muda, Batu 4 Jalan Kapar, Pelabuhan Klang, Jalan Pandamaran Banting and Taman Selat Damai; Tebuk Mendeling, Sungai Air Tawar and Sungai Panjang (Sabak Bernam); Tanjung Karang, Kampung Kuantan, Pantai Remis and Pekan Sungai Buloh (Kuala Selangor); the shoreline of Pantai Bagan Lalang (Sepang) as well as Pantai Kelanang and Pantai Tanjung Sepat (Kuala Langat).
    Alimaddia said, 15 fire and rescue stations from the five districts have also been called to join in the rescue and evacuation operation.
    He added, as a precautionary measure, monitoring is also conducted at areas near the coast and flood hotspot areas. — Bernama
