KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 279,000 rubber smalholders and tappers who have Rubber Transaction Authority Permit (PAT-G) cards are urged to apply for the Monsoon Season Aid (BMT) (Bantuan Musim Tengkujuh) no later than Sept 29.
Malaysian Rubber Board (Research & Innovation) deputy director-general Dr Zairossani Mohd Nor said as of Sept 21, only 94,278 rubber smallholders had applied for BMT since it was launched on Sept 1.
"So far, 373,207 rubber smallholders and tappers have the PAT-G cards, but 278,929 have yet to apply for BMT.
"BMT is a government aid to rubber smallholders and tappers for the monsoon season which will be distributed in November, December and January next year," he said at a press conference at the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) building here, today.
Rubber smallholders can apply for BMT online at http://bmt.lgm.gov.my or be present at any MRB office by Sept 29.
For those three months, those eligible for BMT will receive RM200 a month as announced during the 2017 Budget presentation last year with an overall allocation of RM261 million.
"Those who have applied for BMT can check the Malaysian Rubber Board app via smartphones," said Zairossani.
The MRB confirmed that any BMT application made after Sept 29 will not be accepted. — Bernama
