Suspect brought back to Tahfiz school to retrace steps

KUALA LUMPUR: Police brought one of the seven suspects who was allegedly involved in the arson attack of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school to the scene of the crime in Datuk Keramat, yesterday morning.
The 16–year–old suspect arrived in a van, escorted by police officers, ten minutes shy of noon.
The teenager, who was handcuffed and masked to conceal his face, was brought into the school compound before being led into the back of the building, which was sealed off to members of the public and the press.
The 16–year–old is believed to have been brought here to re–enact the scenes that took place just before the fire, which has claimed 23 lives.
They spent about an hour in the school before leaving at approximately 12.50pm.
Also seen, were forensic units combing the area to find any other clues.
21 tahfiz students and two teachers of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school were killed in a fire that engulfed the building at 5.15am on Sept 14.
The seven suspects, who were believed to have caused the fire, have since been arrested and remanded to facilitate the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, and Section 435 of the same code for mischief by fire.
