KUALA LUMPUR: Police have obtained a remand extension for the seven suspects linked to the arson attack on the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah Tahfiz School that took 23 lives at Kampung Datuk Keramat here.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa said that the police have obtained a seven day extension to the initial remand which ends today.
"Their remand will continue from Sept 23 to 29," he said.
Police had requested for a remand extension to aid in investigations into the deadly school fire.
The seven suspects are aged between 11 and 18 years old and the case is being investigated as mischief by fire and also for murder.
Yesterday one of the seven suspects were taken on site to re-enact the events that took place just before the fire.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, eyewitnesses said that police had also brought six other suspects to the scene for the same reason.
In the fire which started at 5.15am on Sept 14 at the religious school, 21 students and two teachers who also stood in as wardens were burnt to death after they were trapped on the top floor of the three-storey building.
